Someday we need a detailed information about what hardware we have and installed on our computers. Indeed we can find a brief summary tools provided by Windows. But sometimes it was not enough, for detailed information we need the help of other programs.


PCWorld recommends using CPU-Z. Free software which will show all of information about your hardware: processor model, size and speed of RAM, brand and version of BIOS and all kinds of other information you might need if there is a problem with your CPU.

CPU-Z can also be used for other purposes, such as what type of memory that needs to be purchased to upgrade your system. Check on the Memory tab, for example, from there you know if you have DDR2 RAM, 400MHz and dual-channel. And in the SPD tab shows what is in each memory slot. Example will be shown in slot 1 and 2 each have 1024 Mb (1GB) PC2-6400 module and its brand. So it is a complete guide to buying more memory to be 4Gb total.
